What are Problems and Solution for Waterfall Model?

Practical QA guidance for mobile apps, websites, games, SaaS products, automation, testing cost, and outsourced software testing decisions.

The main problem that we observe initially that testing is carried after implementation being done. If there is any large scale project then tester often misses some of the fine aspects. In case, you miss anything at any stage, you might need to repeat entire process right from the beginning. After completing hundreds of projects, we can say that more than 50 percent of defects come from requirement and designing stages.

If you detect error at an early stage then it will really help in fixing that easily. Problem of waterfall model can be addressed by using V model of software testing. This model was developed so that testing should run in parallel to the development stages.

  1. Low level designing is concerned with the unit testing.
  2. High level design is concerned with the integration testing
  3. Requirement analysis phase is concerned with the system testing.

In this case SDLC and STLC run in parallel from phase to phase. Iterative development and testing models are also extremely popular that is more or less same as V model of testing.

We have finally reached to conclusion that development and testing are co-related and it should be handled and managed carefully. For more information about software testing and its different aspects, you can read our various other blogs.
