What is Integration Testing?

Practical QA guidance for mobile apps, websites, games, SaaS products, automation, testing cost, and outsourced software testing decisions.

This is the type of testing where software modules are integrated and testing is done in a group. Almost all software products consist of various modules that can be written by different programmers too. Data communication is important among program modules only then eventual results can be grabbed. This is also called I and T or integration and testing.

Now the question arises here, why integration testing is required?

In general, there are four possible phases of software testing that are most talked about. Name of those testing methods are unit testing, integration testing, system testing and acceptance testing. Though each module of software is tested carefully but there will be still chances of software errors in the program.

  • Every software program consists of various modules and when integrated then there should be no effect on its operation.
  • During case of module development, if there is chance of change in requirements by the client then entre process of testing can change. One should be always conscious about joining various parts of the code.
  • Database connection of different modules can be really difficult job to do.
  • External hardware should be also used to test things properly. It all depends on the way software testing been done.
